What are InSite SiteWork's Version 9 System Requirements? We are often asked "what is the best system for running InSite SiteWork?". If you are purchasing a new computer, almost any current system running Windows 7, Vista will make a fine InSite hardware platform.
If you intend to use a currently owned machine, make sure it has these system requirements. Select the system icon in the Windows control panel to check the system specifications.
Processor: Pentium IV compatible processor is the minimum system required. Processor speed is not the only benchmark for machine speed. Modern PC's with faster video cards and higher system bus speeds will yield the best performance.
Operating System: Windows Vista offers significant graphic advantages over Windows XP, and Windows 7 raises the performance and graphics capacity even higher. Windows Vista and Windows 7 are recommended for image take-off in InSite SiteWork.
"Downgrading" A Windows Vista or Windows 7 equipped computer to Windows XP: There was a period of several months in early 2007 when Vista equipped computers had poor hardware compatibility compared to Windows XP. Now the situation is reversed.
The hardware and drivers available now are optimized for Windows Vista and 7 and work poorly with Windows XP. We have had numerous actual experiences with these downgrade installations and have found that the high performance aspects of the computers and video systems available today are not supported by the XP installation.
An XP "downgrade" installation is likely to give very poor performance and poor reliability than the same machine equipped with Windows Vista or Windows 7.

Ports: One USB Port for the InSite SiteWork security Key and a USB or serial port for the digitizing tablet (if used).
Digitizer (optional for paper take-offs) with a Wintab driver, supplied by the digitizer manufacturer. Most GTCO, Summagraphic or Calcomp boards work. Call for information on specific models.
