What are InSite SiteWork's System Requirements? We are often asked what
is the best system for running InSite SiteWork. If you are purchasing a new
computer, almost any current system running Windows Vista or XP will make a fine InSite
hardware platform. Make sure it has 1 gigabyte of Ram (a very inexpensive upgrade)
or more for doing CAD import, and the necessary ports as outlined below. If you
intend to use a currently owned machine, make sure it has these system
requirements.
Processor: at least Pentium III or compatible processor is the minimum
system required. Processor speed is not the only benchmark for machine speed.
Modern PC's with faster video cards and higher system bus speeds will yield the
best performance.
Operating System: Windows Vista or XP Operating System .
Microsoft has dropped support of Windows 95, 98, ME and NT.
System RAM: 512 Mb for digitizing. 512 megabytes of RAM is required
for any CAD import, and 1 Gigabyte or more is recommended.
Ports: One Serial or USB Port dedicated to the Digitizing Tablet, or
USB conversion cable and USB port for connecting serial
based digitizers to USB ports. *not every USB to serial cable
will work. Please call us for a list of compatible conversion cables.
One USB port for hardware key hookup.
If you intend to connect to a Total Station, GPS, or Data Collector, an
additional serial port is required.
Digitizer with a 32 bit Wintab driver,
supplied by the digitizer manufacturer.
Sound Card and Speakers required: InSite SiteWork plays
.WAV files when pressing buttons. These sounds are very helpful feedback to
digitizing, and decrease take-off time.
