Contractors often neglect the importance of on-screen and printed graphics when comparing earthwork software. We've never talked to an excavating or general contractor who hasn't been in a dispute over quantity at one time or another. The software that provides the most evidence of where the quantities came from will be the most persuasive to settle disputes in the contractor's favor.
The following is just a sampling of InSite's graphics.
There are many options available when viewing 3-Ds. Surfaces include
Existing, Proposed, Subgrade, Each Strata Layer, and a Cut Fill 3-D.
Each
surface can be rotated and printed. Click on the graphics for a High Resolution
PDF view.
Cross Sections can be taken in X and Y orientations of the site, as well as through a series of points (profile) in any direction.
Any of the Strata and Stripping Layers can be included with the existing and proposed surfaces.
The first step is to select the sections. Here we've selected three cross sections in Y orientation.
You can print this view of the site. We've chosen to
include the Existing, Proposed and Site Boundary, but any features can be
toggled on or off.
Then View and Print the Sections. They can be printed one or several per page, and the sections can be scaled. The blue shading indicates the water table.

InSite SiteWork is capable of printing high resolution Plan View printouts at the maps original scale.
A plotter will print one sheet while smaller printers will print a series of tiled pages that can be assembled for a full size plan. This makes even inexpensive color inkjet printers capable of plotter quality output.
The grading schematic can be overprinted with Cut and Fill Quantities and the Stake Out Elevations (Existing, Proposed, Subgrade, Cut and Fill, Water Table Depth, any Strata Depth)
