Creating an Area Job
Rather than creating a new job when only quick area take-offs are needed, create a job excusively for areas. This will conserve hard-disk space and make area take-offs more convenient.

To set up an area job:
Mark your digitizer with three permanent location points using the whole area of your digitizer (see illustration). You can use tape to mark the points.

Create a new job called AREA. Create a new section using the map scale for a section name. For example, if the first area take-off was from a 30 scale map, name the first section 30 and enter 30 Scale Plans for the section description.

Go directly to the Tools/Area Length and locate the map using the permanent location points on your digitizer.

You can now digitize areas in the usual manner. If you intend to save the screens, be descriptive with the area name. If you do not need to save the area screens use the 6. Cancel choice when Exiting Area/Length.

Enter new Sections whenever you do not have a pre-defined section with the correct scale.
